In 2023, Clare Hirn joined Rebecca Norton and Charley Miller to launch MaybeItsFate.  Rebecca and Charley’s original concept dovetailed with Clare’s belief in supporting visual arts in Louisville, as well as offering a new economic model. Clare’s investment helped secure a physical space and renovations are underway with a target opening in late spring, 2024. The leased-to-own building is located at 1425 Story Avenue (in the heart of Butchertown), Louisville, KY.

MAYBEITSFATE IS A MEMBER-OWNED COOPERATIVE
CULTIVATING AN ARTISTIC CENTER AND CULTURAL HUB IN LOUISVILLE THROUGH A PUBLIC ART
GALLERY AND PRIVATE SOCIAL CLUB

Just as the name MaybeItsFate implies, this unique social club and gallery, centrally located very close to downtown, will offer the chance encounters of people to meet, share new ideas, and discover opportunities for collaboration. The mission is to grow and sustain a cultural hub for art, conversation, and instigation while also generating a new model of support for a community-driven space.

MaybeItsFate introduces the 80/20 Model. This model leverages reciprocal ownership between an LLC (the property) and an LCA (the for-profit cooperative activating the property).

This means the LLC owns 20% of the LCA and the LCA owns 20% of the LLC.

The 80/20 Model enables equity for all patrons and investors supporting the MaybeItsFate mission and aligns interest in value creation through shared values. The overall goal is the membership will eventually buy the building from the original investors, assuring co-op members of physical equity in addition to the all the benefits of being a member of a vibrant artistic community they have contributed to.
