Anthropocene refers to the present era, whose most characteristic trait is the human pressure on the planet. The Rift Valley of East Africa, in the center of the composition, has been a rich source of hominid fossils, where our species evolved and diversified in the last million years. The hourglass shape is irregular, depicting the uneven effects of climate change around the world. It also reflects the finite time and space shared by all life on the planet. The text reflects on different facts and facets of climate change, how we have arrived here, and some possible avenues forward toward a healthier planet.
