The first experience with what would evolve into the "Weathered Series". The trail leads up a steep hill to a chair made for my mother by my father. The backside of the canvas shows the mildew pattern that followed the folds of the canvas as it hung in the woods. The patterns helped direct the composition's light movement through the trees and very directly affects the texture of the final painting surface, even if not readily evident. Looking at the back of the canvas, one can see the type of interaction the environment plays with the canvas and painting process.
