"Where the Sycamore Resides"

Size: Variable dimension, approximately 17' x 40'
Medium: Acrylic on wood cut-out panels (executed in the studio), acrylic wall mural painted on-site
Year: 2012

UK Chandler Hospital commissioned "Where the Sycamore Resides" for their Children's Hospital entrance area. I was asked to bring color into this alcove that was dominated by a large, wood intarzia piece. I executed my wood cut-out panels in the studio, which were then installed over the mural I painted directly on-site. The effect was to give a 3-dimensional character to complement the existing intarzia piece already installed. By adding color, the overall ambiance of the area lightened significantly. Working on-site means you are also an "ambassador" for the project as you interact with a wide variety of passers-by. It cemented my belief of the importance of artwork in public spaces.
